Warm and comfortable waterbed with additional seating edges

When lying on a waterbed, you experience full body support. The water mattress adapts perfectly to the body, allowing the spine and muscles to relax optimally. The combination of warmth, comfort and pressure-free support creates deep relaxation, ideal for sensory rooms, therapy rooms and calming spaces. In addition, the waterbed is hygienic, hypoallergenic and easy to clean.

This waterbed is equipped with a soft standard foam edge of 7 cm and comes with two separate seating edges of 10 cm wide. These seating edges provide extra comfort for caregivers, therapists or parents and can be used in various ways. You can place one edge on each long side, or place two edges behind each other to create a wider seating area. Combining two seating edges creates a sturdy 20 cm seating strip. Together with the fixed 7 cm foam edge, this results in a comfortable total edge of approximately 27 cm. This makes it easier and more comfortable to sit next to the user during support, therapy or relaxation.

The strong, urine-resistant bisonyl cover encloses the entire bed and is available in various colours. The waterbed comes complete with a powerful 240W heating element and a maintenance kit. The water chamber is not stabilised, which makes the bed more wavy and less suitable for daily sleeping.
Note: the waterbed is supplied without a platform. A platform can easily be added via the ‘Add to cart’ button. Installation is not included.

Placement and use

The waterbed can be placed on a platform or built into a bed frame or box. However, we always recommend using the waterbed in combination with a platform. You can find the platform easily in our configurator when clicking ‘Add to cart’. A platform offers several advantages: the waterbed stands more stable; the bed cools down more slowly; it is more practical to use and maintain; it prevents the bed from resting directly on the floor.
Determine the final location of the waterbed in advance.
Once filled with water, the bed cannot be moved.

Comfort and finishing

The waterbed is equipped with a soft, narrow 7 cm foam edge all around for stability and comfort. In addition, two separate 10 cm seating edges are included. These edges can be: placed individually, used per side, or placed behind each other for extra width.
By combining two seating edges, you create a sturdy 20 cm seating zone, which together with the 7 cm foam edge results in a total width of approx. 27 cm. This provides extra seating comfort for caregivers and parents.
The bisonyl cover is strong, hygienic, washable and equipped with a zipper. Nenko supplies the cover with the zipper on the inside to prevent damage.
Placing the cover:
Turn the cover inside out.
Carefully unfold the seams in the corners.
Place the cover on the platform and ensure it aligns neatly with the edges.

Heating and installation

The waterbed is equipped with a 220-volt ceramic heating system that is completely safe to use (TÜV-certified). An installation kit is included (see the manual for extra information). Note: installation is not included.

Stability and load capacity

This model has an unstabilised water chamber, making the bed more wavy. This makes it less suitable for daily sleeping but ideal for relaxation, sensory activities, therapy or experience. Our waterbeds have no official maximum weight. Tests show that a water mattress would only burst under extreme load (approx. 19 tons). This is not a guarantee but demonstrates that a user weight of around 150 kg is no problem. For heavier users, we recommend a stabilised waterbed to reduce sinking.

Suitable for interaction

This waterbed can be used with massage and music systems and is fully compatible with various multisensory applications. The heating element has a power of 240 W.

Cleaning and maintenance

Like any product containing water, a waterbed requires regular maintenance. A maintenance kit (60011955) is available.
This kit contains:
a conditioner to keep the water fresh;
a cleaner to keep the vinyl of the water chamber supple. Use the kit once a year to maintain the lifespan and quality of the waterbed. Regular maintenance prevents odours, vinyl drying and possible damage.

Cleaning the bisonyl cover
The bisonyl cover is strong and washable, but must be cleaned correctly:
How to clean bisonyl safely:
Use a soft brush to remove dust and dirt.
Clean with a mild cleaning agent, such as Lux soap flakes in lukewarm water, applied with a sponge or damp cloth.
Disinfection is possible with a very weak solution of Milton fluid.
Use only little water and always dry the PVC thoroughly after cleaning.
Do not use abrasive sponges.
Avoid boiling water, aggressive cleaners, dish soap and solvents, as they can damage the coating.
Steam cleaning is not recommended.

We often see wide foam edges around waterbeds. How much lying surface water do your waterbeds have?

Our waterbeds are softside. This means that they have a special system of foam edges, so that a water bed of 100 x 200 cm also has as good as 100 x 200 cm water surface! The comfort waterbeds have an extra foam edge next to the normal foam edges in the cover, so you can sit next to a client for example.

What is the difference between a stabilized and an unstabilized waterbed?

An unstabilized water bag contains only water, no obstacles for reduced wave effect. As a result, when you sit on it, the bed shakes quite a bit due to the water that is moved within the water bag without hindrance. In a stabilized waterbed, there is a cushioning layer, so that the water cannot move completely freely through the water bag. This way the biggest wave will be absorbed. The higher the stabilization, the less movement of water.

How warm does a waterbed get?

This depends on how high the thermostat is set, which is supplied with the heating element of the waterbed. The element can heat up to 40 degrees. Whether this temperature is reached depends of course on how cold or warm the ambient temperature of the room is.

Does a waterbed need maintenance?

Like any product with water, a waterbed also needs maintenance. A maintenance kit (60011955) for this is available. This consists of waterbed conditioner which keeps the water fresh and a vinylcleaner which keeps the plastic of the water bag flexible and smooth. Use this once a year to maintain your waterbed. This also makes it unnecessary to replace the water in the waterbed.

Can I put an extra fabric cover around the waterbed?

Yes you can. That makes the lying comfort even higher, because the bisonyl cover is very easy to clean, but does not feel very soft. Bisonyl does take over the heat from the environment, so it feels comfortable in that sense when the waterbed is warm. The dimensions are the same as normal mattresses (100, 140, 160 and 180 cm wide) so a fitted sheet fits perfectly around this. These are not available at Nenko.

What is the yearly power consumption of a waterbed heater?

The exact energy consumption of a waterbed heater depends on several factors, such as room temperature, bed insulation, and the surrounding environment. Therefore, we cannot provide an exact annual figure.

For reference, here is the average daily consumption at different room temperatures:
At 19°C (cold season): approx. 2.1 kWh/day
At 21°C (average temperature): approx. 1.5 kWh/day
At 23°C (warm season): approx. 0.9 kWh/day

What if I don't want a lift recess in the platform?

A lift recess is standard in our shelves. When the waterbed is placed against a wall, you can easily turn the platform, so that the lift recess is against the wall and the closed side at the front.

Do you always need a professional installation for a waterbed?

No, certainly not. If you are a bit handy yourself, you can certainly install the waterbed with platform yourself. There is a manual for the bed and there is also an installation video available, so you can easily install the bed yourself.

What is the added value of a musical waterbed compared to an ordinary waterbed?

With a musical waterbed, the bass of the music can be felt through the water. This allows you to enjoy the music tactile, which is very pleasant for, for example, deaf or hearing-impaired clients or people who are very tactile. The vibrations also give an extra secure feeling.

Why is the cover with the zipper on the inside delivered this way?

Nenko delivers the cover like this to prevent unnecessary damage.

Turn the cover inside out and ensure that the seams are well unfolded in the corners. Place the cover in such a way that it aligns nicely with the sides of the already placed plateau (optional).

What is the difference between a waterbed with a stabilizer and a comfort waterbed?

The difference between a comfort waterbed and a standard waterbed lies in the support. Our comfort waterbeds are equipped with an additional foam edge, in addition to the standard foam edges in the cover. This extra foam edge provides improved stability and support, making it possible, for example, to sit comfortably next to a client.

How can I clean the waterbed?

All bisonyl products can be cleaned with warm water and a mild soap (such as Andy or Ajax, etc.). Do not use aggressive cleaning products. Bisonyl cleaner is also available for more difficult stains.

Is a waterbed suitable for heavier individuals?

Yes, a waterbed is certainly suitable for heavier individuals. We recommend choosing a waterbed with a stabiliser, as it provides additional support. Suitable models are available under the item numbers: 12402002, 12404002 and 21250002.

Can I move a waterbed?

No, this is certainly not possible! A single waterbed soon contains 400 liters of water, which is roughly equivalent to 400 kg. this cannot be moved without completely draining the waterbed. Please note that this must be done carefully, because it can easily cause damage, especially with an aged waterbed. Only move a stabilized waterbed straight and flat over the entire length (do not roll, fold, etc.). So think carefully in advance where you want to place the waterbed.

Can I sleep on your waterbeds?

Snoozing or having a nap is of course no problem on our waterbeds, that is a joy experience, but these waterbeds are not made for regular sleeping. You should then have more stabilization in the bed (at least 90%).
